EXPERIMENT for FUN, DESIGN for SUCCESS

4-Day Water Media Workshop
WE start with what is important to YOU.

We build on that to make the strongest painting possible.
Participants will create paintings using the elements of shape, line, value and color to simplify subject and use a variety of color plans to create emotion and mood in a representational painting. Discussion of content and the importance of a personal vision will be discussed.

Participants will also work intuitively with shape, color, line and especially texture to produce an abstraction with a personal focus. A variety of ‘slippery surfaces’ will be explored. Painting intuitively and experimentally will be covered. These paintings will be as fun and absorbing to view, as they are to paint. There will be both group and individualized instruction. This is a fast moving, fun, mixed water media workshop where we all learn and share. All levels are welcome as long as everyone is comfortable with their materials.

Workshops

Sponsored by NWWS

The Northwest Watercolor Society hosts two 4-5 day workshops every year. Each workshop accompanies the opening of one of our major exhibitions: the Annual International Open Exhibition and Waterworks, our membership exhibition. Both exhibitions are juried by internationally known artists and instructors with a reputation for providing excellent instruction in water media.

NWWS workshops can include up to 22 participants and are hosted in a wonderful, spacious venue. Snacks and beverages are provided. For workshop information contact workshop chair Molly Murrah at workshops(at)nwws.org.

NWWS is very proud of its workshops and we are especially proud of the talented artists who choose to join us in Seattle to judge our shows and teach our workshop participants. Each artist/instructor is uniquely qualified and well-known in the international artist community, and we are lucky to have them as creative partners.
