“Wisteria” is an intuitively experimental abstract watercolor. My process involved an initial application of paint that was freely applied to the paper with no plans as to the end result. Watercolor is an amazing medium to work with due to its fluidity. Areas where the watercolor paint application is thin dries quickly and where it puddles it creates variations in color, value and texture. Once this initial application of paint was dry I studied the painting for some time in every orientation. The feeling of freedom and energy from that first initial experimental application of watercolor pigment never fails to delight me. After carefully studying this work I used my 50+ years of training as an artist I to pull a finished painting out of what had been created. This is how “Wisteria” came to be. I Love to Paint! It is my Voice.
