NWWS Permanent Collection
In 1982, Northwest Watercolor Society established the NWWS Permanent Collection at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.
Every year since, a $1,000 Purchase Award has been offered in the Annual International Open Exhibition only. The Chair(s) of the Open Exhibition – along with the NWWS president – choose one painting from the exhibition to add to the collection and the artist receives the $1000 Purchase Award. The selected painting then hangs permanently in the exhibit at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center.
Accepted artists may choose to make their work eligible for this award, but are not required to do so. Those who accept the Purchase Award, however, are very honored to become part of the NWWS Permanent Collection.
EACH YEAR ONE EXCEPTIONAL ARTIST ACCEPTED INTO THE ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL OPEN EXHIBITION IS HONORED TO HAVE THEIR PAINTING PURCHASED BY NWWS FOR THE PERMANENT COLLECTION. WILL IT BE YOU?
