Bob has been a gardener at Bloedel Reserve for over 30 years. His home is in the Reserve's Japanese garden where he tends to a myriad of plants all year round. Here he is, in early spring pruning a pine. Both Bob's concentration and expressive hardworking hands enticed me to paint this painting. I volunteer at the Reserve and have learnt many lessons from this knowledgeable gardener who is also an amazing storyteller.
