For several years, while living in Colorado, I would make an annual visit to a ‘pioneer reenactment’ event at a compound just north of Denver. The participants who attended every year would outfit themselves in clothing and gear that, to them, represented the mountain men of days gone by. Outsiders were allowed to photograph them as they went about their competitions and activities of the day and I was able to capture this gentleman immersed in his moment of role playing.
