The Kermode bear also referred as the spirit bear is a subspecies of the American black bear and ranges in the Central and North Coast regions of British Columbia. It is one of the rarest animals in the world. spirit bear of the peoples. The spirt bear reminds the Kitasoo/Xai Xai peoples of the land that was once covered with glaciers and snow long ago. This painting depicts the dark country side the bear resides in stark contrast to its coloring and somewhat translucency showing bits of the background reminding us that it is revered as a spirit.
