I have done a series of white birds on blue water that keep coming. I love pelicans because they are awkward, comic, ungainly on land. Their orange beaks contrast with the blue water and their reflections contrast with with both the strong blues and whites. I use both watercolors and gouache, mainly to supplement the protected whites. I try to contrast the pristine beauty of white birds on water with their comic nature. I contrast their comradery with the dreamy reflections on water. I mount the paintings on
