Thom was a gentleman I met while shopping, I was immediately inspired to paint his portrait. He was homeless and hungry, and he agreed that if I bought him lunch at the local Jack in the Box he would allow me to take his picture. After buying him lunch we talked for awhile about becoming homeless. He had a family, kids and a wife and a job. It all changed when his son was murdered and he was unable to move on. He ended up turning to drugs, and knowing he was being a bad example for his other children he chose to leave and take up residence on the street. His family would occasionally seek him out to make sure he was okay. I have never seen him since and I hope the best for him and hoping that he was able to turn things around.
