Squirrels are daily visitors to our feeders, gray squirrels, black squirrels, and some that have hybridized into black squirrels with red undercoats. I have only seen one white squirrel, many years ago, they are exceedingly rare, so this is painted largely from memory using a gray squirrel who "poses" on our deck as a model. The tree stood in the front yard of our childhood home and attracted mostly robins but occasionally a squirrel. To me this signifies both the coming of winter, when squirrels become focused on survival, and the beginning of spring when they are more playful and active. Aquarelle on Cold Press watercolor paper.
