"Earthworks" is about pushing the limits of simplification without losing the basic structure of the scene. It began with a complex scene of rolling hills, too many branches, and an overcast sky providing nondescript lighting. Through multiple iterations, it was broken down into the minimum number of shapes, a simplified bold palette, and texture only where needed. The result is the exact middle ground between realism and abstract.
