I was intrigued by the challenge of painting fog, and always absolutely loved this covered walkway over the river that courses through my hometown. This scene is in the Midwest on a snowy day when the water was covered with ice. My goal was to use as little pigment as possible and show how cold the temperature was. I exaggerated the length of the bridge in Photoshop to add depth, and included imaginary silhouetted figures to give scale and intrigue, hoping to engage the viewer and tell a story. The most fun for me was adding texture to the water on the right of the bridge with medium. The canvas is wrapped and that also was something I like to do to give a person who buys it the option of framing or not.
