Born in Washington, my senior year of high school I took an elective art class and found out I wasn’t that bad. After graduating I attended community college in Seattle where I took drawing 1-3 and was introduced to charcoal as a medium, and eventually oil paints. These courses and their instructors showed me for the first time, I could have a future doing art. Using these classes as a foundation tied with my personal love and admiration of the impressionists, I began plein air painting. This quickly became my most beloved method of creation. After years of painting outside I obtained a studio where I produced paintings of all styles but took a particular escapade into surrealism. I found the intuitive freedom of creating the information refreshing as opposed to that of plein air painting, where the information is already in front of you. It was then with renewed fervor that I finally decided to return to school. Currently, I’m enrolled and one class away from graduating. Since returning my artistry and perceptions have undergone exponential growth and I hold immense wonder in my heart about what I will discover and achieve as I continue moving forward.
