My grandmother Esther wore this brooch often. As a very small child I remember being enchanted by its magical colors and thinking it was the most valuable possession a woman could possibly own. Now I have the brooch and even though it is a post WWII piece of costume jewelry, its worth is not just in the sparkles but in the memories and warmth it evokes of my sweet grandma.
