Alcoholism (Pleasure and Pain) A watercolor painting accomplished on Arches 300# cold press paper. This painting is one in a set of three with a emphasis on the tragedy of alcoholism. A single glass shows the pain in separation from drinking alone. The brightness of the painting shows the pleasure from alcohol while the reflection shows that a dark side exists. The four roses symbolize a past with another type of whiskey ("Four Roses"). And the multiple bottles show us that this person is a heavy drinker - an alcoholic.
