This is a Watercolor Batik on rice paper, painted using hot wax to capture layers of colors to protect them from changing as more paint is applied. Once the whole painting is finished, and is covered in wax, a hot iron and many sheets of newsprint is used as the wax is literally ironed off. My subject matter tends to be environments that I capture with my phone. There is an experience and response I wish to capture. Atmosphere, mood, a story are developed in the design stages, then more fun continues when the layers of paint and wax are applied.
