JANUARY 28, 2025 – MICHELE USIBELLI
MEETING START TIME: 7:00 (Pacific time)
After earning her degree in Architecture from the University of Washington, Michele combined her professional life with a love of travel. From this springs her passion for painting subjects that are colorful and with striking light. You’ll see this same energetic, recognizable voice throughout her body of work. She works in a variety of media: oil, gouache, acrylic, watercolor, and more. We are delighted to welcome her to the NWWS meeting on Nov. 26th, 2025, as she shares her unique, watermedia voice.
Michele is a Signature Member of the following organizations: “Oil Painters of America”, “American Impressionist Society”, “Women Artists of the West”, “American Women Artists”, and “Laguna Plein Air Painters Association”. She is an elected “Oil Painters of America” Board Member and sits on the “PleinAir Magazine” Advisory Council.
A sought after juror, Michele will be our juror for the 2025 Northwest Watercolor Society’s “Waterworks Online” juried exhibition, and will also be instructing an NWWS workshop (online, 2-days) on April 23-24, 2025.
Artist Statement
“During my work in architecture, I felt deeply connected to the arts. But I truly discovered my passion when I began to explore oil painting. For me, the process of creating begins with a scene that I feel carries a certain energy and evokes an emotion. I find myself drawn to subject matter with rich colors or intriguing light. The vignettes of everyday life that inspire me to paint, regardless of whether it’s a landscape, figurative work, cityscape, or portrait. It is my primary goal to have each artwork I create resonate with energy and the poetry of light. I follow my own ‘rule’ of painting what is truly important to me and feel very fortunate to be able to share that with all those who support and appreciate my work. There is nothing more gratifying than knowing that my work, which is so important to me, is appreciated by others.”
