Anticipation was inspired by my observations on a street near my house while returning from an early morning walk in the fall of 2021. I took a photo, then returned home and did a quick sketch and made some notes. The light and cast shadows were particularly compelling to me. The people on the street , mostly high school students, were waiting for the bus, which would take them to school. I wondered how the kids felt, going back to school after nearly a year of being isolated at home during a pandemic, and hoped the beautiful day would somehow encourage them, as it did me.
