This painting is called Carissa. I was able to photograph a friend of mine with her horses whom she adores. I've always loved horses myself but have never owned one so this was a fun project for me. This is my second serious watercolor portrait outside of college. I'm very confident to say that each time I paint I get better. This one compared to my previous watercolor portrait proves that my skills are getting better. I loved doing this one and experimenting with layers! The background was done through several layers of mingled washes, wet on dry, and quick sporadic strokes. The rest of the portrait was done through many hours of attention to detail and color.
