My favorite place on earth is this waterfall. With seemingly a thousand steps to the bottom, it roars at nearly all times of the year but particularly in spring as it screams over the volcanic rock that has slipped and slid over itself for thousands of years. I have many photographs of this beautiful place, but this painting arose purely from my memory of the waterfall with the rocks, stairs and mysteries all included. I attempted to capture the brilliance of the water, the richness of the rocks and the disappearance of reality in this painting.
