Painting , for me, is an opportunity to retreat into my imagination and paint my feelings about the "story" that I am telling. My goal is to create an image that shares the spirit of my subject and her experiences. I call this imaginative process “painting with my mind’s eye”; as I tell the narrative of who I have painted. In recent years, I have been working with ideas inspired by the life of women’s experiences from past eras. In this “ghost story” , my "spirited" women are experiencing their present, while I , in the present consider their past, as I imagine they have lived their life experiences.
