This is a painting of my ancestors. They lived on a farm and had an old horse that they loved and used to ride, three kids at a time. Here they are in their Sunday best, a way to honor the horse, I suppose. Maybe they just got home from church. I approached this painting by showing the typical high contrast imaging that you would get in an old camera of the time. I added color to their clothing to give it a more contemporary look. All three have passed now and the horse, too, but they will be remembered as having a happy childhood blissfully unaware of the cell phones we have today.
