Brittany France, is coastal and culturally, very different from France. It has an ancient language of its own, Breton. There are 300 steps to get to the summit and this scene caught my eye as we descended from the abbey.This World Heritage site was begun in the 700's. The abbey is on an island and, until recent times, the water surrounded it at high tide. making it impossible to come or go from the mainland except during low tide. I saw these "pilgrims" crossing the sandbars on foot during low tide.
