Painting was accomplished with watercolor and gouache. Several of Holbein's more opaque colors such as Turquoise helped with the background effect. Completed 2023. Conventional mat, Plexiglas, and Nielsen Florentine frame. I spend an inordinate amount of time in my gardens, grabbing many pics as subjects present themselves. The simple Columbine (Aquilegia) is an age-old inhabitant of grandmothers' gardens, but the exceptional elegance of the intricate blooms is anything but mundane! Especially highlighted when the light hits just so.
