Hello, I’m AJ Casaus! I’m a Media Arts and Graphic Design Major at the Northwest College of Art and Design in Tacoma, Washington. It has been my passion ever since I could perceive
what I wanted my career to be, Art. I’m thrilled to say that I am at that point in my life to label myself a professional artist. Artist expression personally means a lot to me because I grew up in a town where the majority of the population was white and straight. Nothing wrong with being either but without representation, especially being Filipino and Queer, it was a lonely isolating upbringing in the world. But now that I’m older I want to express my true self. It is especially freeing, to pretend, and try your hardest to fit in with family expectations for years of your life. To grow up and realize that you must be your true self. Through all the anguish of trying to be a different person, it truly means something to me to be open with my identity. I continuously aspire through my day-to-day life to inspire others.
