Throughout my childhood, I looked forward to the “Art Days” I spent with my aunt. She never saw my youth as a limiting factor but as a gift. I learned curiosity to experiment with new mediums and methods. I now carry this passion with me to delve into new things, from teaching myself how to carve and print linoleum to studying human anatomy to better my oil paintings. At our Art Days, I learned how to learn. A mistake wasn’t a mistake, it was an exciting opportunity. From her, I learned to look at the world with an inventive and open mind.
During middle school, my identity as an artist solidified. Art class provided me with a safe space to experiment and express myself, guiding me on my current artistic path. Beyond my BFA, I aspire to pursue an MFA in art education, with the aim of becoming an art teacher who fosters an appreciation for art and self-discovery in future students.
