The location of my painting "Feeling Spirit Island" was a hard to get to destination in Jasper, Canada and I was immediately struck by its special beauty. I wanted to paint the blues and greens which merged and floated all about. The feeling of peace and serenity was strong and I wanted to convey that by softly connecting many of the elements all around me. The setting was warm and sunny, with soft skies and surrounded by true cerulean blue water and strong secure mountains. Any one element or area could have been a focal point, but I created a little evergreen sprouted on a rock and then wanted to create movement in all directions. I used transparent watercolors throughout to bring out and reflect the lights.
