Winter is a dark time when lights and flowers become particularly uplifting. The times have been dark with pandemic and divisiveness in our culture. This painting is from a show "From Darkness Blooms" where I use dark backgrounds to add drama and emphasize the light cheerfulness of the flower. The original painting is on 300# Arches Cold press paper revealing the deckle edges of the paper.
