I tend to see beauty in very common items. Not only is the image of my trash can in front of my garage an unusual still life to me, but it represents a nice communal activity on our street. It brings all my neighbors out of our homes to give a hearty welcome to each other. This association makes my still life feel alive. The straight lines of the garage door are a nice background in which to feature the guest of honor - the curvaceous garbage can. This piece satisfies my quest to find beauty in the mundane.
