Portland Avenue Nursery in Tacoma has a number of rusted farm equipment scattered around the grounds. This flat bed truck sits in the far corner of the parking lot and has always been my favorite. Unfortunately, the background is a chain link fence, weeds and the nearby neighborhood. I decided to completely eliminate the background and limit the foreground to the parking surface with white lines and shadows. This resulted in a very limited palette, which worked really well with the composition. Upon close inspection, I noticed that I made a mistake in my drawing, including a portion of the telephone pole that appears as a pip sticking out of the top of the cab. Oh, well…
