The beginnings of my painting "Shown the Light" were from a beautiful day out in my yard. I gathered different glass objects and some of my beloved tuberous begonias whose blooms become heavy and fall off their branches. I love the gorgeous reds of the begonias and the blues of the glass together. I set up many different still life arrangements on my patio table and began taking loads of pictures. It was fun and challenging at the same time. I spent the day waiting for just the right light to come through my glass objects and snapped photos. I loved the beautiful reflection through the glass and hoped to capture that in a painting.
