Winters seem very long, dark and cold in Idaho, but when the sun is shinning all the frost and snow becomes magic. Several days of deep cold and clear skies combined to make the most amazing hoar frost. In this piece I worked to capture the play of warm light on the grasses where the sun was concentrated, creating deep shadows and never ending lace-like patterns deep within. Crowned by irresistible crystals of frost that wind throughout the piece, leading to the layers of snow and frost that reflect the bright sunlight.
