My watercolors are built up by working around the page in many transparent layers, considering shape, color, and value. Details are slowly depicted with more precision until I am satisfied that I've captured the essence of the subject, the expression on a person's face, the moment in time. As I was going through old photos on my computer, I found one of my niece, Bina...at around seven years of age, judging from her missing tooth! I loved the juxtaposition of sunshine and shadows, and her smile, of course!
